McEwen police Department posted later this evening that a Traffic Stop in McEwen lead to guns, cash, and a large amount of drugs taken off the streets

Today, 7/8/2021, an aggravated assault was alleged to occur in Waverly. The suspects left the scene and were reported to be headed towards McEwen on Highway 70. The subjects in the car were said to be armed with a pistol and a rifle. Chief Eric Jernigan and Officer Aron Duty sat up at the city limits to watch for the vehicle.
Chief Jernigan and Officer Duty observed the vehicle coming into the city limits and initiated a traffic stop. A pistol, rifle, cash, and a large amount of marijuana were recovered from the vehicle. The rifle had been reported stolen out of Stewart County.
The driver, Jhzayiah Lewis of Dickson, faces numerous charges in McEwen and Waverly.
